Consolidating himself as one of the most versatile artists in Spanish music, Abraham Mateo fully enters the world of electronic music with “You Have to Know”, a powerful duet with Naiarawith which he fulfills the promise made to the young Spanish artist, winner of the last season of the Operación Triunfo.
Produced by Abraham Mateo himself, who also participated in the lyrics and played drums and keyboards during the recording of the music, “You Have to Know” is a cry of heartbreak, with an interesting mix of Latin pop and electronic arrangements from the group’s 90s.
“What was promised is a debt,” the artist said when announcing the song, referring to the offer he made to Naiara at one of the contest’s galas to record a song with her. “It would truly be an honor.” I think we could do a lot of crazy things together.“I’ll leave it at that,” he told the then-candidate.
“I decided to make this song with Naiara, because I realized her talent as soon as I saw her. It is a combination of pop with electronic music and above all it does not leave behind that melodic and romantic wave that I think identifies both me and her,” he added.
The song is accompanied by a video directed by Guillermo Rodríguez and produced by Marianela Knaus, in which both artists sing in an empty hangar, which represents the pain that surrounds them, while sometimes Naiara tattoos three intertwined hearts on Mateo’s back.
Abraham Mateo will perform on October 19 at the Buenos Aires City Opera Theater.
