Joey King returns to Netflix with Ugly
After The lower side of the familyJoey King will return in another Netflix film this year. The actress will appear inUglyThe story of the film takes place in a futuristic world where All individuals should undergo cosmetic surgery when they reach 16. But when one of Tally’s friends runs away, the teenager goes looking for her, and soon discovers that truths that shake his beliefs.
Joey King then plays Tally Ugly. Around her, Brianne Tju, Chase Stokes, Keith Powers and Laverne Cox play some of the other main characters in the story. A little over a month after its release in theaters, the film directed by McG is revealed a first trailer.
A first trailer of the dystopian film
The trailer ofUgly introduces us to Tally, who is eager to undergo mandatory cosmetic surgery when she turns 16. The teenager it conforms perfectly to the rigid rules of the world he lives in. But she doesn’t seem so sure of herself anymore when one of his friends seems to have changed personality after undergoing surgery.
Tally then leaves what she had always known and discover a new worldwhere people live much more freely. But, according to the latest images from the trailer, these people will then be attacked for choosing not to follow the imposed rules. We can therefore imagine that alongside them, Tally will have to fight to survive.
The first film in a series?
The plot ofUgly reminds the one from the franchise Divergentwhich presents a world where people without certain characteristics are eliminated. Even though the saga led by Shailene Woodley did not speak of surgery, the general atmosphere of this trailer strongly suggests it. Furthermore, the film led by Joey King is also adapted from the first novel of a saga. Written by Tom Westerfeld, it has five volumes. Ugly could therefore have sequels on Netflix. But for that, the film will undoubtedly have to be successful at the time of its release. It will arrive on the streaming platform next September 13th.
