According to a blog post shared on Wednesday, TikTok will begin rolling out an early version of the feature in the coming weeks and will display a “post unavailable” message to block age-restricted videos. To determine which videos fall into this narrow category, TikTok will assign a “maturity score” based on the video’s “thematic maturity” levels.
“When we discover that a video contains adult or difficult themes, such as fictional scenes that could be too dangerous or intense for young audiences, the video will be given a maturity score to prevent anyone under 18 from watching it on TikTok. experience,” Cormac Keenan, TikTok’s director of trust and security, wrote in a blog post. “We’ve focused on further protecting the teen experience and plan to add new features in the coming months to provide rich content filtering options for our entire community so they can enjoy more of the things they love.”
