The Boys: Jensen Ackles Compares Soldier Boy And Dean Winchester’s Father Issues

For the actor, Soldier Boy and Dean Winchester have very different father issues

Jensen Ackles was highly praised for the performance of two characters: Soldier Boyin The Boysand Dean Winchesterin Supernatural. Even in two completely different universes in the world of the series, they have one big obstacle in common: father problems.

During an interview with Variety, the actor commented which of the two characters has the worst relationship with their respective father. “[Soldier Boy] definitely had the worst and has deeper problems because of that,” he said. “I don’t think how Dean necessarily sought his father’s approval the way he Soldier Boy was.”

“[Dean] I just idolized my dad in a unique way, given the circumstances, because they lived in a very, very different world than what a relationship would be,” he continued. Jensen Ackles. “It also dealt with his father being motivated by revenge – and he was a mini version of John Winchester, essentially. He was your little soldier.”

For Dean, it was less about approval, but more, ‘This is what I’m supposed to do because that’s what my dad taught me to do.’

Supernatural: Jensen Ackles has idea for series revival

Jensen Acklesinterpreter of Dean Winchesterrevealed ideas for a possible revival of Supernatural (2005) in an interview with TV Guide. Despite the actor’s desire to revive the character, the franchise’s next step is the spin-off about the protagonists’ parents, The Winchesters.

ackles was asked about the possibility of a comedy for the theaters with Dean and Sam (Jared Padalecki). The actor joked and said that the Warner viewed the 15 seasons as a comedy series and explained how he would like to see characters return.

“I have this high point that, after everything is organized, we will have another case like Sam and Dean. I have some ideas. Maybe a short 10-episode order for HBO Max,” she argued.

ackles even suggested a bold choice, a crossover with another series aired by HBO Max: “I’m just saying. True Detective finds Supernatural. It’s right there.”
