Without problems: Henry Cavill faces Bruce Willis

Published in 2012, No problem (The cold light of day in the original version) is an action thriller which, despite the presence of big names on the bill, went relatively unnoticed upon its theatrical release (just 146,000 spectators in France). However, the film highlights an actor who would soon become a iconic figure of Hollywood : Henry Cavill, in his first major film role, shortly before becoming world famous for his portrayal of Superman Man of Steel in 2013.

No problem directed by Mabrouk El Mechri tells the story of Will Shaw (Henry Cavill), a young American who goes to Spain for a family vacation. This journey, which should be a peaceful interlude, soon turns into a nightmare when his family is kidnapped by mysterious men.

Then it will begin in a race against time to find them, but discovers that his father, played by Bruce Willis, is not who he says he is. The latter leads a double life as a secret agent, and Will finds himself involved in an international conspiracy involving the CIA and enemy agents. The film is a mix between the classic spy thriller and Hollywood action, driven by a dizzying pace.

In addition to Henry Cavill and Bruce Willis, we also find Sigourney Weaver in the cast.

A box office failure

Before No problemHenry Cavill already had a career in full swing. He made his film debut in supporting roles, most notably in The Count of Monte Cristo (2002), Tristan and Isolde (2006) e Stardust (2007). It’s 2011, with the movie The immortals where he plays Theseus, Cavill gets his first major film role, the role of a mythological hero in a Hollywood blockbuster. No problem marks his first role in a modern film.

Despite its impressive cast and a promising plot, No problem did not have the desired success TO global box office with only 17 million dollars in revenues, for a budget of 20 million.

The film received mixed reviews, many pointing to a sometimes predictable plot and classic execution for the genre. However, it remains a fun thriller for action fans and allows us to see Henry Cavill in a role where he is starting to gain confidence as a protagonist.
