Memories of Daniel Craig
In five films and 15 years as James Bond, Daniel Craig has done almost everything. Performing much of the character’s stunts himself, he was injured several times while filming these blockbuster films where the limits are constantly pushed.
In 2021, after the release of Death can wait and his farewell to the role of his life, he gave an interview to GQ to look back on this great sequence of his career. He answered several questions, including one about his favorite waterfall. And his answer may seem surprising, since it wasn’t necessarily the most physically demanding scene for him.
My favorite stunt… There are a few in No Time to Die that I’m very proud of. But I would say the whole sequence in Venice that we shot for “Casino Royale.” It wasn’t because of the physical aspect of the waterfall, but because Chris Corbould, who was in charge of the special effects, designed this house that was sinking and I had to jump over things and dive into the water. I’m particularly proud of it, probably because it was my first film and because it was one of the most incredible sets I’ve ever worked on.
An ultra-spectacular scene
Daniel Craig therefore demonstrates team spirit by choosing this spectacular sequence of Royal Casinobecause in particular both he and Eva Green took part in it, but above all because all the credit goes to the titanic work of the special effects team. As detailed in the video below, it was necessary to design a scale model of the building sinking into a swimming pool and film it in front of a blue screen, and construct the entire interior of a full-scale building. This construction also sinks into the water, with the actors and film crew present in this structure. The result is an unforgettable sequence, which contributes greatly to the realization Royal Casino one of the best films of the James Bond saga.
