Paul McCartney recalls John Lennon ‘got nasty’ after leaving The Beatles

According to Paul McCartney, he and John Lennon fought a lot over the phone after the Beatles broke up.

After John Lennon get out of the Beatles, Paul McCartney got some hard feelings and talked about how the former bandmate “got nasty” at the time, according to information from Showbiz Cheat Sheet.

In the book The Lyrics: 1956 to the Presentreleased on August 25, 2021, McCartney wrote about the “ugly” rivalry with Lennon. “When the Beatles ended and everyone was struggling, John it got nasty,” he said in the work. “I really don’t understand why. Maybe because we grew up in Liverpool, where it was always good to throw the first punch of a fight.”

However, the tables gradually changed: “Gradually, we passed that phase, and if I were in New York, I would call and say: ‘Would you like a cup of tea?'” During an interview with The Sunday Times, McCartney revealed commented on how “it was a great blessing for me” to reconcile with Lennon.
