Autumn is available on Netflix France
Deprived of theatrical release in 2022, the film Fall was released directly to VOD in France. Two years later it landed on Netflix and will therefore be able to reach a large audience that does not know of its existence. However, it is strongly not recommended if you suffer from vertigo…
Directed by Scott Mann, the film follows the adventures of two friends, Becky and Hunter, who decide to overcome their limits by climbing a isolated and abandoned radio tower in the middle of the desert reaching an altitude of over 600 meters (twice the height of the Eiffel Tower). Unfortunately they find themselves stranded in the building without any means of rescue.
For more than an hour we follow their slow descent into hell, where every gesture could cost them their lives.
Shot on a budget of just $3 million, the film grossed over $21 million at the global box office. In the United States the film was a huge success on Netflix. Two sequels are currently in preparation.
How was the film shot?
Fall was filmed in IMAX in the Shadow Mountains of the Mojave Desert in California.
The production team took inspiration from the real KXTV/KOVR television tower, 625 meters (2,049 feet) tall and one of the tallest structures in the world. Although the film features a fictional tower, the design and visual appearance were influenced by this real tower.
To avoid using green screens or digital sets, the director and his team chose to build the upper part of the tower on the top of a mountain.
That’s why they built the top of the tower on top of a mountain to give that impression of height. This allowed actresses Grace Caroline Currey and Virginia Gardner, who were not dubbed, to have the most immersive experience possible.
The construction did not exceed 30 meters in height, but gave the impression that it reached a height of over 600 meters.

Filming was a real challenge, especially due to the extreme weather conditions.
The team had to deal with storms, lightning and even ant clouds that interrupted the filming process. Scott Mann described the experience as a Bear Grylls adventure, where each day of filming brought its share of unexpected challenges.
