After more than two decades, the roller coaster will have a new theme
THE Rock ‘N’ Roller Coasterthe park’s iconic attraction Hollywood Studiosin Florida, will no longer have the Aerosmith as the main theme. The news was confirmed by Disney and marks the end of an era for fans of the band and visitors to the roller coaster, which has combined music and adrenaline since its opening in July 1999.
Located in the complex Walt Disney Worldthe Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster is known for its three loops and speeds that reach almost 96 km/h. During the tour, visitors can listen to hits such as Dude (Looks Like a Lady), Walk This Way and Sweet Emotion.
The new phase with the Muppets
Aerosmith’s replacement will be made by Muppetswhich take on the roller coaster theme with a musical proposal inspired by showbiz. The change accompanies the closure of the MuppetVision 3D attraction in the same park, creating a new space dedicated to the classic characters. According to a Disney spokesperson (via Loudwire):
The Muppets will take over the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, and will join some of music’s biggest stars for an unforgettable rock festival!
The decision also reflects the current situation of Aerosmith, who announced their retirement from the stage this year, after Steven Tyler suffered a vocal injury. The band had been promoting their farewell tour, Peace Outbefore the forced pause.
History of Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster
Opened in 1999, the roller coaster is one of the favorite attractions for rock and adrenaline fans. In addition to the original version in the United States, a second unit was opened at Walt Disney Studios Park, in France, in 2002. However, the latter was reimagined with a Disney theme.
