At 37 years old, Cynthia Erivo is one Oscar away from becoming an EGOT, a title given to artists who have won the four biggest entertainment awards: Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony. Protagonist of the cinematic musical Wickedone of the most anticipated films of the year, Cynthia is one of the bets for the 2025 Oscar for her performance as Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West.
Based on the acclaimed Broadway musical, WickedIt opened in theaters on November 21 and has already broken box office records, becoming the most-watched film based on a musical of all time. In addition to Cynthia, the cast includes Ariana Grande in the role of Glindathe Good Witch.
Cynthia has already accumulated three of the four prizes needed to reach the EGOT. In 2016, she won the Tony Award Best Actress for the musical The Color Purple. In 2017, he took the Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album for the same work and a Daytime Emmy Award for a presentation at the Today Show.
At the 2020 Oscars, Cynthia was nominated in two categories for the film Harriet – The Road to Freedom.
