Dolly Parton gave details about his marriage to Carl Thomas Dean.

In the podcast episode of Bunnie Xo published on Monday, 9, Parton revealed that her husband prefers to stay out of the spotlight and refuses to attend events with her.

“He loves music, but he has no interest in being in that field. And he told me that straight away,” he said. “I begged him to come with me in 1967. We got married in 1966. That’s when I won my first BMI award for Song of the Year,” he continued, mentioning the 1966 song “Put it Off Until Tomorrow.”

“I rented him a tuxedo and, you know, begged him to go, and he did. And, oh, he was so uncomfortable the whole night,” he recalled, adding that when they got home, “he started taking everything off.”

“He said, ‘Look, I want you to do whatever you want to do, and I wish you the best, but don’t you ever ask me to go to another one of those damn events again, because I’m not going.’ And he never went again.”

“So we kind of have this mutual respect, and I respected that because I didn’t know he would be that uncomfortable. He doesn’t even like to go out, you know, to big dinners or things like that,” the country star said of her husband, with who has been married for 58 years.

“He’s always been a homebody, and that’s worked well for us… I don’t know if anyone out there believes in astrology or pays attention to it, but he’s a Cancer and I’m a Capricorn, and those are compatible signs,” he said. Parton. “He loved to travel, whether we were driving across the country or had something planned. But hey, he could never wait to get home.”

“He wanted to stay home, and I’m a gypsy by nature. I just love going out and discovering what else is out there. But I think it’s worked out well for us.”
