House of Dragon: George RR Martin had cameo cut from the series

During a panel at Comic-Con, George RR Martin says he would appear in the first episode of House of Dragon

George RR Martin filmed a cameo in house of dragon (2022), new spin-off of Game of Thrones (2011), but the scene did not make it to the final cut. The author told about his participation in a panel at Comic-Con in San Diego, California last Saturday, 23.

The scene in question was filmed for the pilot episode of the series, but much of it was re-shot and the author was left out of the episode, martin explained “they left my part on the editing room floor.” According to the website screenrantthere are still no plans for the author’s new appearance in the series.

The same happened with Game of Thrones, When martin also recorded a cameo in the pilot episode as a guest at the characters’ wedding DaenerysTargaryen and Khal Drogo, but the scene was cut in the edit. Later, there were plans for the author to appear in the third season in the Red Wedding scenes, but according to the screenrant the producers felt that the author’s presence in that episode would be too upsetting.

Even the showrunners of game of Thrones, David Benioff and DB Weiss, got a cameo in season 8, while George RR Martin remains unseen on screens.
