Eragon is getting a new adaptation on Disney+

Christopher Paolini’s story received a film adaptation in 2006, but the production did not please critics or audiences.

After Percy Jackson and the olympians (2005), Eragon is the new literary saga to be readapted to the big screen by Disney+. The history of the Inheritance Cycle, from Christopher Paoliniwill be the focus of the new production, according to information from Variety.

According to the portal, the author will work on the production as a co-writer. Bert Salke was chosen as executive producer, with production company 20th Television, the former television division of Fox.

In 2006, the Fox first adaptation of the saga for cinemas, released in 2006, was cast Ed Speleers (outlander), Jeremy Irons (Justice League), John Malkovich (Space Force) and Rachel Weisz (The Mummy). However, the production did not please the public, nor the critics, and with that, they did not continue the franchise.

The rights to the saga passed to the disney after the studios acquired ownership of 20th Century Fox, and last year, paolini and several fans gathered on Twitter asking for a new adaptation to be made.

Eragon is just the first book that makes up the saga of Inheritance Cycle. Eragon and Saphira’s journey across the continent of AlagaĆ«sia continues in Eldest, Brisingr, and finally Heritage. If the first season is a success, it is very likely that all the books will be adapted.

There is still no release date or even the beginning of the recordings.
