Hocus Pocus 2 producer talks about meeting the Sanderson sisters on set, as if we needed another reason to get excited about this film

After 29 years, the Sanderson sisters are finally back and their return is eagerly awaited (though perhaps not by the people of Salem, Massachusetts, on whom they intend to cast their cowardly spells). fan of the original Hocus Pocus spent decades asking for a sequel starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy, and finally Hocus Pocus 2 will be presented this fall. There’s a lot of anticipation for the film’s wonderfully eerie magic on-screen, and executive producer Adam Shankman makes it seem like there was a lot of magic on the set in the sequel as well.

Shankman recently had the opportunity to wow audiences Hocus Pocus 2 through an interview with people, and it seems his primary way of doing this was to celebrate the reunion of the film’s three biggest stars / antagonists. The director has basically compared Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy getting back together as a kind of time travel, and it seems like it didn’t take any effort to recreate their wonderful character dynamics. Shankman said,

[It was] like a leap in time, as if time did not exist [passed]. They laughed, they laughed, they laughed. … It was easy. Kathy, Sarah and Bette have known each other since making the movie … so [there] it was just dizziness. I think there was a bit of a “Wow, are we really doing this again?”

Just look at the photo of Hocus Pocus 2 at the beginning of this article is somewhat surreal, as the bright costumes and makeup perfectly illustrate the idea that no time has passed for these characters. Hopefully someone was holding a backstage camera when the first three arrived on set in full swimsuits as Winifred, Sarah and Mary, and we hope we can enjoy filming before or after the sequel arrives. (Hopefully it’s as healthy as the trailer reaction video of Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy.)

Directed by Anne Fletcher Hocus Pocus 2 is a real-time sequel as the story picks up 29 years after the heroes of the original lit the legendary Black Flame candle and then defeated the Sanderson sisters (preventing them from magically stealing the youth of Salem’s children). Whitney Peak, Lilia Buckingham and Belissa Escobedo will star as a new trio of teenagers who accidentally resurrect terrifying witches and it’s up to them to stop their nefarious plot before it’s too late.
