NBA player Iman Shumpert was arrested at a Texas airport for marijuana possession

Reality star and former NBA player Iman Shumpert was arrested at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport this past weekend for allegedly trying to steal 180 grams of marijuana through security.

A police report from the DFW Airport Department of Public Safety shows that police were called to a TSA checkpoint around 3:40 pm on Saturday, July 30, and said they found a “pretty large amount of marijuana.”

According to the police report, Shumpert told officers the bag contained marijuana and “asked if he could fly” to Los Angeles, where he was taking his daughter. He has two daughters with singer Teyana Taylor.

Shumpert was turned down, arrested for criminal possession of marijuana and taken to the airport jail. The Tarrant County criminal court system had no information about the court case.

The report says Shumpert had a 14-round magazine in his backpack, but no weapon was found. Shumpert, his agent or attorney could not be reached immediately.

Shumpert won an NBA championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016. He has also played for the New York Knicks, Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets, and Brooklyn Nets. He was released by the Nets in 2021.

His relationship with Taylor is E! unwritten series We got love from Teyana & Iman, which debuted last year. In November, Shumpert and his dance partner Daniela Karagach won the 30th season of ABC dancing with the stars.
