Maya Hawke and Camila Mendes team up in the comedy teaser

Netflix has revealed the first teaser for “The Punishers” (Do Revenge), a teen comedy in which Maya Hawke (“Stranger Things”) and Camila Mendes (“Riverdale”) team up for revenge.

The film follows the unexpected union between the most popular ex-girlfriend from a private school and a new nerdy student to confront those who torture them with bullying. The strategy is to swap enemies from each other.

The plot is clearly a teenage version of the classic “Sinister Pact”, an adaptation of the 1951 novel by Patricia Highsmith directed by Alfred Hitchcock, this time with the scariest protagonists of all: teenagers.

Packed with teen stars, the cast also includes Jonathan Daviss (“Outer Banks”), Alisha Boe (“13 Reasons Why”), Rish Shah (“Ms. Marvel”), Maia Refico (“Pretty Little Liars: A New Sin” ), Austin Abrams (“Euphoria”) and Sophie Turner (“Game of Thrones”).

Written and directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, one of the writers of “Thor: Love and Thunder,” who made her directorial debut last year with another teen comedy, “Somebody Special” (2019), also distributed by Netflix.

The teaser indicates that the film will be released on September 16.
