Tasha & Tracie They release this Thursday, 25, at 21h, the debut album Serena & Venus. The 21 tracks project was recorded in the studio of the artists themselves and gathers Liniker, Bivolt, Little, Dona Kelly, Cecéu Muniz, Nath Fischer, Mc Marks and DJ MF.
The album presents itself as a continuous narrative: accompanies the trajectory of a woman who enters the crime, falls in love with a bandit, is arrested and faces abandonment in the prison system – a cut -out that dialogues directly with the history of singers, whose parents passed through the jail. The cover, signed by Jota Guettotakes as reference handwritten letters sent by the mother of the prison sisters.
Musical production preserves the artistic autonomy of the twins. Most tracks have beats Pizzolewith additional productions of Caio Passos, Fahel & Stuani, Marvin and Retroboy; Tasha & Tracie Sign co -productions in multiple tracks. The result mixes classic rap, contemporary house, R&B, funk and Afro-diapospopic textures.
Participations and co -productions expand the sound palette and reinforce the collective character of the project: Liniker and Bivolt They add voices at central moments, while artists from the local scene and producers invite rhythmic and thematic variation. The pair also invested in arrangements that value narrative and sequence – each song acts as a chapter.
In addition to the digital version, the album will be made available on physical and digital platforms; The distribution seal and details about special editions were released by the artists team.
What to expect from Serena & Venus?
The album comes at a moment of greater visibility for the Brazilian hip hop female scene. When dealing with the experience of incarcerated women, Tasha & Tracie They connect autobiography and social denunciation, transforming personal experiences into political and aesthetic work. In addition, the choice of recording in the studio itself reaffirms a posture of independence and creative control.
Musically, the album balances rap moments with dancing passages and melodic choruses, which increases the range beyond the niche audience. The presence of consolidated names and producers of the new scene helps insert the pair into larger circuits without erasing their local references.
