In September 2026, twenty-five years will have passed since the fall of the World Trade Center towers. Coincidence or not, this is the moment Paramount+ chose to launch its new original series: 9/12. It will be a six-episode miniseries that will chronicle the legal battle of 9/11 first responders to obtain compensation, he specifies Expiration.

The story will then lean towards legal drama. To write and direct it, Paramount+ called director Tobias Lindholm to whom we owe the Netflix film Murders without a prescription. The Dane will be helped in the script by Frank Pugliese, the showrunner of House of cards.

This ” ambitious story », as the platform described it, will be produced and starred by Jeremy Strong. The actor of Succession he will play Jason Smith, a famous but fictional lawyer inspired by real people.

Expiration describes him as a man who risked everything to take on entrenched institutions, exposing the politics, greed, corruption and betrayal that compounded the tragedy that occurred against the extraordinary unity and courage of rescuers when the World Trade Center collapsed. »

Tobias Lindholm knows how important this story is. So, he promises that 9/12 will be a series that “ he wonders what happens when those who have risked everything are abandoned by the very institutions meant to protect them. »

Filming has been postponed by a year and will finally begin in the summer of 2026. We can therefore expect a 2027 release on Paramount+.
