He’s not even the last man standing, but Kaitlyn Dever shares the first look at the original Shakespearean tale he retells below.

While Kaitlyn Dever is moving away from her sitcom past, she isn’t completely moving away from comedy. Example: her role in Shakespeare. The smart booking the star recently shared some photos on her Instagram of the film Rosalina. The project is a twist on the Shakespearean classic Romeo and Juliet, who will tell the story of Rosaline, Romeo’s coveted ex-girlfriend. Dever will play the main character. rosaline is a comic story based on the novel when you were mine by Rebecca Serle. It tells the story of a young woman’s journey to discover herself as she tries to win back her ex-boyfriend. Producer Shawn Levy is behind the project and the screenplay is written by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber. The writing duo received praise for writing 500 days of summer Yes Spectacular now.

The development of this project was long, with several actors and directors signing the film over the years. Felicity Jones was originally assigned to play Rosaline, with The vote director Michael Sucsy commissioned to direct the project. Other names circulating in the lead role included Keira Knightley and Allison Williams.

After a development process of almost a decade, rosaline finally found her star in Kaitlyn Dever, with obvious child Principal Karen Maine in the director’s chair. Dever will also perform alongside Bradley Whitford, Minnie Driver and Kyle Allen. More photos of the long-awaited set of vintage pieces can be seen below on 20th Century Fox’s official Twitter page.

Personally, I can’t wait to see this new version of a classic story. The comedies of classical literature seem to become more and more popular. This year Jane Austen’s Persuasion was released with Dakota Johnson for Netflix. This film also offered a humorous update on a timeless love story. rosaline, however, it seems to take a different approach. The film will be a completely new and fresh story based on the characters from the source material. With many talented people at the helm, I’m very interested to see what this adaptation has in store for us.

It looks like we’ll be seeing a lot of Kaitlyn Dever this year. The actress will also appear in ticket to heaven which will debut in theaters in October. Dever will play the daughter of divorced parents (played by Julia Roberts and George Clooney), who travel to Bali to prevent their daughter from getting married. Additionally, Dever returned to television in the Hulu limited series, stupidin which she was nominated for an Emmy.
