Zara Larsson calls tour with Tate McRae an ‘incredible combination’ in first steps towards stardom

The singer commented on the unexpected reaction to her opening performance, saying the tour was ‘a great opportunity to perform in front of the perfect audience’

After more than a decade of struggling in the pop industry, something finally clicked for Zara Larsson this summer. It happened while she was on tour as an opening act for Tate McRae in Miss Possessive Tour. In each performance, videos of Y2K costumes from Larssoninspired by the Bible, with impeccable choreography and vocal talent, accumulated tens of thousands of likes on social media.

In a recent podcast interview Good Vibrationsfrom Roisin O’Connorthe 27-year-old Swedish singer-songwriter opened up about the unexpected success of her appearance as an opening act and how it’s setting the stage for her own big-time shows.

“Obviously, in an ideal world, of course I would be ready to headline — I would go on tour and do my own show here in Europe. But we have to be a little realistic,” he said. Larsson. “It would be silly to announce a world arena tour now… I haven’t achieved that yet [fora da Europa]but I wish and hope it happens in the very near future.”

She added: “I don’t know if I expected it to cause such a stir on social media, but I knew it was an incredible opportunity and I was really excited when I was cast in the project.”

At the end of its 28-show season with McRae, Larsson he felt “very comfortable on a stage that size”, even if he couldn’t fill the space in the same way as he would as a main attraction. Larsson he only took four dancers with him, saying, “I feel like we made the most of the space the stage had.”

During the last week of the tour Miss Possessive, Larsson released his fifth studio album, Midnight Sun. Thanks to the opportunity to open the shows, the album reached a wide audience of new fans.

“I feel like that was the main idea and the point of the tour,” he said. Larsson about expanding your audience. “Because I don’t ignore the fact that I have a lot of work to do, especially when it comes to touring in the US, to build my audience at the live shows. I feel like this was a great opportunity to introduce myself to the perfect audience because I really felt like it was an amazing match between me and Tate.”

Larsson will begin his North American headline tour in March 2026.
