Wilson’s memo is below.
Hello everybody,
For the past six months, I’ve been digging deep into E! The news business. As we shared in February, our goal is to build NBCU’s best entertainment news hub, and I want to start by recognizing and thanking everyone who already works every day to help make that happen.
When we first spoke, we promised to reconnect once we had a better idea of the new organizational structure, and we wanted to share that piece with you today.
We are creating a centralized ‘Terrace Studio’ umbrella that shares critical support functions around the world. Access Hey! News brands like stage, production management, hair and makeup, etc. This will allow us to work smarter and harder, maximize the existing experience, and free up resources to compete on a larger scale. It’s only natural that these two amazing brands join forces. Access has been re-established as the home of on-air entertainment news, and the E! News remains one of the most iconic cross-platform brands in the industry.
One of our top priorities is to strengthen the role of E! in entertainment news going forward, and with that in mind, we are restructuring our leadership team to better help us achieve this goal.
Our digital footprint remains one of the brand’s strongest assets and stuffed tami – who has done a phenomenal job of increasing engagement over the past few years – will remain in her role as Executive Vice President and Editor-in-Chief, overseeing the digital channel E! Organize news and develop a strong list of digital originals. Tammy will have three direct reports whose teams will help develop and shape the brand going forward; Jen Lavin boost creativity Jamie Blinn will be supervised by E! Online Publishing and we are actively looking for someone to oversee the digital strategy. I truly believe that each of these executives is amazing at what they do and that this new structure will drive this team forward.
In addition, we are extending our “Center of Excellence” concept to the production side of the business. Ed Zarkoff you will lead this group as senior vice president of news operations and will report directly to me; will work closely winnie fusco s Cristina Killack which will continue to produce all first production operations. Ed will continue to be responsible for managing the digital production, as well as the following teams: news operations, photography and bookings. Ed’s institutional knowledge and previous newsroom experience make him a natural fit for this expanded role, and I’m confident this move will streamline and strengthen our production process.
Finally, we continue to focus on the future of E! And your news offers, we will launch a new program on the linear network that will air from the end of October. We’ll be announcing more details in the coming weeks, but our vision for the linear show is to return to the roots of E! News Brand as the gold standard of entertainment news coverage. We keep moving the brand in that direction, pop every day The launch will complete in mid-September. night pop will end in early October, paving the way for our new show to focus on the audience. I really want to thank you pop every day s night pop Teams for their creativity and dedication, including countless hours of work, to keep these shows alive and kicking during the pandemic.
I know change can be a challenge, but I’m really excited about the future of these brands that we’re going to build together. I appreciate your commitment, flexibility and support as we continue to work on this process. Hope to see you soon.
Thanks,
tracy
