Agencies Join Showrunners Fundraiser for Abortion Aid (Exclusive) –

Several talent agencies have joined the fundraising campaign for abortion relief launched last month by a coalition of showrunners.

CAA, WME, UTA and Gersh each donated to the Hollywood Foundation for Abortion Relief (formerly known as Showrunners for Abortion Relief), which benefits the National Network of Abortion Foundations. The agency’s donations ranged from $25,000 to $35,000, and to date, the fund has raised $2.6 million from its $5 million goal.

The creative coalition, which currently counts 1,425 showrunners/creators and directors, first came to light in a July 28 letter to the studios demanding a written policy to protect access to abortion for production workers at the studios. While agencies were already aware of and supportive of the showrunners’ efforts, they came in with their own corporate donations after clients like Martha Kaufman and Liz Flahive of WME and Anna Konkle of Gersh approached them with requests.
