In Hollywood, it’s common for franchises to expand into spin-offs to expand the brand – and make more money, of course.
A trend in Hollywood is to divide successful series and movies into spin-offs, also known as spin-offs. In 2022, the public saw two productions of this type quite prominently: Better Call Saulin breaking badand House of the Dragonin game of Thrones.
It is quite difficult for a spin-off to match or surpass the original production, but it is something extremely possible (in addition to Better Call Saul and House of the Dragon). On account of this, the Rolling Stone Brazil separated six derivatives that were quite successful. See below:

Better Call Saul
With six seasons, it didn’t take long to Better Call Saul win the favor of fans breaking bad. The series showed the trajectory of Jimmy McGillplayed by Bob Odenkirkto become the badass lawyer Saul Goodman, who represents and helps Walter White (Bryan Cranston) to build the blue methamphetamine empire.
The production created by Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould brought back other iconic characters such as Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks), Tuco Salamanca (Raymond Cruz) and Gustavo Fring (Giancarlo Esposito). However, it introduced characters who equaled the greatness of breaking badas Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn), Nacho Varga (Michael Mando) and Chuck McGill (Michael McKean).
Frasier
One of the most iconic sitcoms of all time, Frasier owes its very existence to another series of the same genre: cheers. The derivative shows Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) move from Boston to Seattle in an attempt to start over after their divorce.
Narcos: Mexico
Narcos: Mexico derives from one of the most popular series in the Netflix: narcosstarring Wagner Moura in the role of Pablo Escobar. The production spin-off investigates the rise of the powerful Guadalajara cartel who started out selling marijuana – and quickly moved into cocaine and heroin production.

The iconic animation created by Matt Groening came from The Tracey Ullman Showa variety show that only lasted four seasons, responsible for introducing the yellow family in a series of shorts for three seasons before the producers decided to give the characters a series of their own.
Xena the Warrior Princess
Before marking time in Xena the Warrior PrincessXena appeared in Hercules: The Legendary Journey like some kind of villain. Second IndieWirethe derivative starring Lucy Lawless was filmed on location in New Zealand, and became something of a bridge between simpler fantasy series and the more ambitious scope that future TV productions would take on.
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit
Law & Order is one of the most iconic police series of all time. The franchise had several spin-offs, but what stood out was Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. With 23 seasons to date – the 24th premiere on September 22, 2022 – the spin-off has become the longest-running U.S. prime-time live-action series in history.
