Among other things, Oliver scoffed at tributes to the late queen from companies like Domino’s Pizza and the cartoon character Crazy Frog. “Obviously we have to start with the UK, which is obviously still reeling from the shocking death of a 96-year-old woman from natural causes,” the presenter said. “It’s a great moment [of] week and for some reason absolutely everyone felt they had to come.
Oliver also said the monarch’s death was not “the only traumatic event Britain has had to deal with”, noting the appointment of Liz Truss as the country’s new prime minister and leader of the Conservative Party.
