Iranian actress Golshifteh Farahani praises the courage of Iranians who have been rebelling for “women, life and freedom” for 2 weeks.
Banned by the Iranian regime in 2008 for appearing topless at the premiere of Ridley Scott’s film State of Lies, Golshifteh Farahani supported Iranians protesting the death of Masha Amin on September 13. A 22-year-old youth was killed by a vice gang for wearing a poorly tied hijab.

“The City of Yazd: Brave Women of Iran. Have you ever seen men applaud women like that? Support for such women? And you? Have you seen men fighting with all their hearts for women? did they beat Are they killing, literally dying because of women? For the freedom of women? Did you see this? This is the most glorious movement for women in the world for as long as anyone can remember. It is historical. And no matter what, these young boys and girls in Iran are winners. Iran is the winner.”
In a cross-examination to a Belgian newspaper official, The actress who appears in the movies Elly, Exodus or more recently Un divan à Tunis declares:
It is historical! We have never seen such unity between men and women. We have never seen Iranian men so supportive of their wives. The men are there because Mahsa Amin was their sister. She was their daughter.
He continues: “They fight side by side with women because they know that this is more important than the difference between men and women. Together they fight for freedom. The generation born in the 90s has never seen war. They are fearless. And they don’t give up. They have put their muscle, blood and bones on the front line in the fight for freedom and this is historic. Iranian girls have already won. Whatever the outcome of this movement, they will win because they have inflicted a wound on the arm of the Islamic Republic that will never heal. Maybe the republic will still work, maybe not. But this wound will rot forever.”
In another Instagram post, the young woman challenged the international community to support the Iranians because “together we are stronger.”
The actress will appear in Thibaut Seguin’s romantic comedy opposite Alex Lutz from November 16.
