Which Skincare Products Can’t Be Cheap: A Cosmetic Chemist Explains

Taking care of your skin is very important because it is the largest organ in our body. And yet, every girl thought about how to save money on one kind of product – after all, you have to buy a lot of them.

Do you want to manage your cosmetics budget well? Cosmetic technologist Javon Ford shared on his TikTok page when you can save money and what you should invest in with no regrets.

Expensive: retinol and vitamin C

Basic skin care doesn’t have to cost astronomical sums. However, some ingredients cost more than others, and according to Ford, retinol and vitamin C are among them. “Their stabilization cannot be cheap,” explains the specialist.

The fact is that some of the elements that make up cosmetics can be destroyed under the influence of air, light, heat or water. Unstable substances are less effective and can sometimes even damage the skin. This is why retinol is stored in airtight containers, explains the chemist.

When it comes to cosmetics containing vitamin C or retinol, Ford says the savings aren’t worth it: “Buy the most expensive product you can afford. The higher the price of a product, the more stable its formula. You should not mourn the expenses, because on something else they can be “recovered”.

Inexpensive: cleanser and moisturizer

When it comes to cleansers and moisturizers, the most expensive products often tend to provide the best experience. “The more money you spend on a product, the better it will feel on your skin. That’s what ‘luxury’ skincare is all about,” says Ford.

For example, a budget hyaluronic acid serum may be a bit sticky, while a “luxury” one will absorb completely. To wash off cheap gel oil from the face, some effort will be required, the expensive will disappear almost immediately.

However, simple cleansers and serums like hyaluronic acid will deliver similar results regardless of price. “They do what the manufacturers promise. The texture of some products may not be ideal, but it will still cope with its task,” says Ford.

Summary

Want to save? Invest in expensive retinol and vitamin C products and don’t overspend on cleansing gels and hyaluronic acid serums. Can you count the money? Buy exclusively “luxury” – in the end, self-care should be fun!
