Recently, Dr. Andrey Vorobyov explained why bowel cancer poses a special threat to women. According to the oncologist, we simply overlook some of the hallmark symptoms of this deadly disease. Why? We simply confuse them with other states that are already quite familiar to us.

“Bowel cancer can be difficult to diagnose because it can share symptoms with diseases other than cancer. The most common symptom reported by the women in the study before they were diagnosed with cancer was abdominal pain, which is often associated with other female health conditions.said the doctor.

According to Vorobyov, men with similar symptoms seek help much earlier than women. The thing is, they can’t come up with alternative explanations for sudden pain in the abdomen, which is why they go looking for the real cause during a doctor’s appointment.

A recent study found that more than a third of women with bowel cancer were diagnosed after visiting an emergency room, compared to less than a third of men.
