Imax CEO Richard Gelfond’s compensation reached $9.08 million in the last fiscal year, up from $6.9 million in 2020, according to a regulatory filing released Wednesday.
Gelfond received a base salary of $1.2 million last year, the same as his $1.2 million in 2020 and 2019. He did not receive the award in 2021 and the year before.
And he received a $5.9 million option award last year, up from a $5.5 million option award in 2020, as part of a three-year performance period. Gelfond also received $1.9 million in compensation from the stimulus plan for fiscal 2021, while in 2020 nothing happened.
The giant-screen show also revealed in an SEC filing that Megan Coligan, president of Imax Entertainment, earned $4 million in total compensation last year, up from $2.58 million in fiscal 2020.
In filing the SEC, Imax focused on the box office recovery, which led to its revival when the pandemic subsided.
“Imax’s industry-leading performance in 2021 highlights the strengths of our technology, the strength of our unique model, and the global strength of our brand and platform. In the year set aside for recovery, Imax achieved resounding success, doubling the industry’s recovery growth rate and capturing its largest market share at the global box office. .
