Sweden-based Embracer Group has acquired video game development studios Crystal Dynamics, Eidos-Montreal and Square Enix Montreal for $300 million in cash and debt.
Embracer deal listed on NASDAQ Exchange includes popular IP games Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Thief s Cain’s legacy Franchises and 50 more games from the Square Enix catalog.
Crystal Dynamics, based in Japan, whose games include აღ The Rise of a Grave Robber s The Legacy of the Kain ChallengeHe has studios in San Mateo, California, Bellevue, Washington and Austin, Texas. Eidos Montreal has two studios in Quebec and one in Shanghai and has similar releases. Thief 4, Deus Ex Human Revolution s Shadow of Tomb Raider.
And Square Enix Montreal has studios in Montreal and London. The deal will raise Embracer Group’s profile in North America as its content grows to 230 games. Embracer has increased purchases to increase its manufacturing capabilities as demand for gaming products increases.
“Through this acquisition, Embracer will increase development opportunities specifically in the AAA segment, providing opportunities to accelerate organic growth,” the company said in a statement.
Specializing in PC, console, mobile and desktop games and other related media, Embracer has over 850 franchises and stock catalogs owned by THQ Nordic, Koch Media, Coffee Stain, Amplifier Game Invest, Saber Interactive, DECA Games, Gearbox Entertainment, Easybrain, Asmodee and Dark Horse.
With 119 in-house game development studios, Embracer has over 12,500 employees and expects its last transaction to be completed in September 2022.
