Actors Aitana Sánchez-Gijón and Maxi Iglesias have been spotted taking an affectionate stroll through the streets of Trujillo in western Spain.
The couple were filmed walking embraced through the historic city on Friday, August 28, confirming that their relationship remains strong after months of keeping out of the public spotlight.
Witnesses spotted the pair walking arm in arm not only through quieter side streets, but also across the crowded Plaza Mayor, the city center square. Onlookers recognized the two performers and filmed them as they toured the area together.
Videos of their getaway quickly gained traction on social media after being posted by Javier de Hoyos on his TikTok account. The footage was subsequently broadcast on Spanish television shows, including the Antena 3 afternoon magazine program Y ahora Sonsoles, and reported by regional newspaper El Periódico de Extremadura.
Breakfast and Sightseeing in Trujillo
According to El Periódico de Extremadura, the actors had spent their first night together in Trujillo before having breakfast at a cafe in the Plaza Mayor. Following breakfast, the couple set out to explore the historic sights of the city in the province of Cáceres, Extremadura.
Their sightseeing tour included a visit to the Church of Santa María la Mayor, one of the most prominent historic monuments in Trujillo. The landmark parish church is widely known for its impressive bell towers and historic altarpiece.
Inside the church, the actors were attended to by employee Irene Carvajal, who initially failed to recognize the famous visitors. Carvajal told the local newspaper that a coworker later pointed out that two major celebrities had entered the building without her realizing who they were.
Touring the Historic Parish
Carvajal noted that Sánchez-Gijón showed a keen interest in learning about the architectural details of the building. In particular, the actress asked specific questions about the historic retablo, or altarpiece, located inside the sanctuary.
The couple paid 6 euros for their entry tickets, toured the church rooms, and climbed up into the bell towers. Carvajal said the two visitors quietly paid their admission fee, made their way through the building, and enjoyed the views from the towers without seeking special attention.
As the couple prepared to leave, Carvajal approached them to ask if they had enjoyed the visit. Both Sánchez-Gijón and Iglesias confirmed that they had liked the tour very much.
A Low-Key Celebrity Romance
Before the actors departed, Carvajal suggested that they visit the nearby statue of the Virgin of Victoria, the patron saint of Trujillo. When Sánchez-Gijón asked where the statue was located, Carvajal explained that it was housed in the church situated on the main square. The actors thanked her and said they would head there next.
Carvajal described both performers as very friendly, though relatively quiet as they tried to maintain discretion during their outing. Their public appearance in Trujillo marks one of the few times the pair have been seen together in recent months.
Sánchez-Gijón and Iglesias first captured national attention as a couple in April, when paparazzi photographs of a passionate walk through Madrid were published in the press. The news surprised fans, as the two had previously portrayed fictional lovers on screen in the popular Spanish television series Velvet.
Despite intense media curiosity following their initial appearance in Madrid, the actors have kept their relationship largely out of the spotlight. Outside of a brief outing in the northern coastal city of Santander, the couple have rarely been seen together in public until their recent trip to Trujillo.
