Akylas says Greece did not deserve 10th at Eurovision

Greek singer Akylas said he was definitely wronged by taking tenth place at the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, a belief he said he holds 100%.

He said he did not know what went wrong or what his team should have done differently.

In an interview on the Kalokairi Mazi television show on Friday, August 7, Akylas said the finish was a big drop from where predictions had placed the Greek entry, adding that feelings are not cogs and he felt weird psychologically.

Akylas said he did not expect to take first place because he was certain Bulgaria would win after seeing Dara's performance in the second semi-final.

He described Dara's performance as fantastic and enchanting, adding that he told his team she would win at the time.

Akylas said his time in Vienna was a particularly stressful period, as he felt pressure not to disappoint Greece and wanted to give his best.

He said that if he could go back in time, he would try to enjoy the experience more. During his two weeks in the host city, he avoided going out and skipped almost all pre-parties to avoid getting sick.

Future return

The singer said he would return to the Eurovision stage for Greece in the future, but not soon, describing the experience as a soul-destroying process alongside its beautiful moments.

He said he would do it again 100%, but only after a few years, once he finds a new formula and can present a new character with a concept different from his recent performance.
