Alex Warren's new video for 'Rescuer' casts his wife Kouvr as the lead, retelling the true story of how they met while he lived in his car.

American singer Alex Warren has released the music video for his song "Rescuer," which has racked up almost two million plays in just a few days. The video itself has already passed 617,000 views on YouTube and is climbing fast.

Warren cast his own wife, Kouvr, as the female lead rather than hiring an actress for the role, a decision that fans singled out as their favourite part of the release. Commenters repeatedly said they loved that he had included his wife in the video.

The choice gives the video's love story extra weight because the plot, stripped of its medieval costumes and castle setting, is based on real events. Warren genuinely lived in his car before meeting Kouvr, who quickly gave up everything to sit in the passenger seat beside him even though the couple had nothing.

How the video's story unfolds

The clip opens with Warren scraping the last food out of an empty can when he notices a group of people in medieval dress heading into a castle. He follows them, but a guard shoves him to the ground as he tries to get inside.

The castle's queen, played by Kouvr, sees what happened and orders the man to leave him alone. Warren, dressed in a hoodie, trousers and worn-out trainers, then scales the castle walls to reach her. True to the couple's real story, she does not play hard to get: instead of running off or making him chase her, she runs toward him and helps pull him up the wall.

A ring, a car and an attack

Once inside, Kouvr's character dresses him with care in proper clothes. The pair laugh together and run off into the woods, where night falls and he places a ring on her finger. He then shows her his old car, the part of his life he is ashamed of but cannot hide, and rather than mocking him, she kisses him on the cheek and tells him to wait for her there.

She runs back to the castle to fetch her bags, planning to stay with him for good. But while Warren waits, a violent character beats him badly and leaves him hidden in the undergrowth before stealing the car and vanishing.

A reunion and a comic finish

When Kouvr returns with her suitcases ready to stay by his side forever, Warren tries to drag himself across the ground to reach her, but he takes too long. Believing he has abandoned her, she turns back toward the castle in disappointment. He calls her name as loudly as he can, she hears him, and the two are reunited with a passionate kiss, a moment made more powerful by the fact that the love shown on screen is real between them off camera too.

The video closes on the humorous note that has become one of Warren's trademarks. He asks her where she thinks his car has ended up, and she says she honestly does not know but that it was a piece of junk anyway. He protests that the attacker hit him twice and threw him into the bushes, asking who does that to people. She simply replies that, apparently, he does.

The result is a simple video that tells the couple's real love story and matches exactly what Warren expresses in "Rescuer."
