“Beauty salon syndrome”: a stroke can occur during this beauty treatment

In 1993, the American doctor Michael Weintraub discovered the “beauty salon syndrome” – an inexplicable condition, against the background of which, after visiting hairdressers, a stroke occurs. 30 years ago, a sharp deterioration in the state of health was recorded in five women. Since then, it’s happened more than once – and followers of Weintraub’s theory have continued to explore the mysterious dangers of cutting and recoloring.

Washing your hair in a beauty salon is really very different from the home option. And although the manufacturers care about the softness of the chair, and the design flows as easily as possible into the sink and is convenient not only for the master, but also for the client, discomfort in the neck during the procedure cannot be avoided.

As doctors found out, due to sharp bends of the head in such a sink, the neck can be seriously injured. And don’t even notice it! Soon after going to the beauty salon, the state of health may deteriorate sharply – dizziness and nausea appear, indicating violations of labor and microtraumas of the cervical vertebrae.

Experts warn that women suffering from atherosclerosis and osteochondrosis are especially prone to the appearance of “beauty salon syndrome”. However, the syndrome is still poorly understood – after all, it is at least very difficult to compare a sharp violation of well-being with a visit to the hairdresser. Therefore, it will not be superfluous to remember that there is: and try to move your head and neck very carefully when washing in the salon. At the same time, you can enlighten your master about the existence of such an unusual consequence. After all, hardly anyone knows!
