Why Botox negatively affects mental abilities: a shocking discovery by scientists

It turns out that the popular variety of “beauty injections” can not only change the appearance, but also affect the mental processes responsible for the frequent variety of our actions.

Botox is considered one of the most popular and affordable options for anti-aging injections. Thanks to it, you can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and relieve the stiffness of certain muscles in order to look visually younger than your real age.

Experts are constantly studying the effect of “beauty injections” on the human body. It’s no secret that in some cases, due to injections, the appearance changes dramatically. And in this article we talked about a woman who has been doing Botox for almost 20 years – although because of this one of the parts of her face has lost its full functioning.

Recently, scientists came to the conclusion that Botox affects not only appearance, but also cognitive abilities. It turns out that women who do Botox lose the ability to distinguish the emotions of their interlocutors!

About my observations said researchers from the University of California. The scientists worked with 10 women between the ages of 33 and 40 – before doing Botox and after a rejuvenation procedure. They showed them photos of people laughing and frowning and recorded brain reactions using an MRI. In the process, it turned out that after Botox injections, the activity of one of the brain regions changes. It is responsible for the formation and recognition of emotions. After Botox, the women tested were unable to clearly determine whether the people in the photos were happy or angry.

By the way, such a change in the body was noticed only in the case of injections in the upper part of the face and between the eyebrows. According to experts, this may be because moving facial expressions are an important part of communication.

“When we communicate with an interlocutor, we unconsciously and imperceptibly imitate his facial expression – and this helps our brain to understand his emotions. Therefore, after Botox, some lose the ability to clearly recognize the emotions of others, ”explains the psychologist Fernando Marmolejo-Ramos.
