Why you can not immediately use the perfume purchased with delivery – the secret of perfume collectors

Today we buy everything with delivery – from groceries to clothes. And, of course, the offers from online perfumeries or private sellers of scented rarities can be very attractive, and it’s so practical, just pick up your package at a relay point or post office! But there is a tip to keep in mind if you don’t want to be disappointed with your new eau de toilette.

An honest seller, high-quality packaging and choosing a reliable delivery service negates the risks when buying perfumes with delivery. But there is a danger which cannot be avoided and which is linked to the physical properties of the flavored product.

Perfume and eau de toilette are delicate matters. And the issue here is not just that the organs of perception work differently for everyone. To create a fragrant masterpiece, the perfumer uses raw materials whose main value lies in the content of aromatic molecules. Their properties allow them to blend together in a special way, creating diffusion – and the very magic for which we appreciate perfume. Natural raw materials – oils, distillates, absolutes – are more capricious, synthetic molecules are somewhat more stable, but they all react to external influences.

Transport, even the most careful, affects the properties of perfumery, literally upsetting the pyramid of perfumes. The bottle in the box is shaken, shifted, turned over. This affects its delicate content – it takes time to restore its original properties.

Therefore, experienced perfume collectors never open even the most long-awaited perfume right away – the “mixed” notes after transportation will not open in the right way. In the case of vintage perfumes, this characteristic is particularly pronounced and they need more time to “come to their senses”, but any perfume must be allowed to rest from the road for a while, leaving the bottle in a cool, dark place. .

If you open a perfume or eau de toilette immediately after delivery, you may be disappointed – it will seem that the smell is not the same or even some notes are “beaten”. Don’t rush to conclusions and part with the bottle, give it time. Harmony will be restored as soon as the aromatic molecules are rebalanced.
