Test: how to assess the fragility and fineness of your hair – and choose the right care for it

Many women mistakenly consider their hair to be thin, weak and lacking in natural volume – and simply take care of it incorrectly. This elementary test will assess the density of the hair and determine if everything is really so bad.

Let’s be honest: a rare woman is satisfied with the condition of her hair. It all boils down to a well-known stereotype: if the hair is curly, straighten it, and if it’s straight, curl it. The same goes for their volume. Too thick hair seems inconvenient for styling – and one in two women considers her curls to be extremely thin.

First of all, the hair looks insufficiently voluminous and strong due to improperly chosen care. Before buying a shampoo for fine hair or a leave-in conditioner for a thickening effect, it is best to assess whether your hair really needs such products – or whether it needs something neutral.

Determining the actual density of your hair is extremely simple. To do this, you need to tie the tail and wrap the volume just below the elastic band with a centimeter tape. And then compare your result with the average values.

  • If the volume of the tail is less than 5 centimeters in circumference, you have very thin and sparse hair. You can use the whole arsenal of means to seal them!

  • A tail with a volume of 6-8 centimeters indicates an average density of hair. If you wish, you can work on improving the quality of the curls, but without fanaticism: otherwise the hair will lose volume and look lifeless

  • A tail with a volume of more than 9 centimeters can boast of really thick hair. Such curls do not need additional volume. The main thing is to continue to take care of their health and prevent excessive hair loss.
