The Secret to Korean Women’s Perfect Faces: How to Get the Glass Skin Effect

Glass skin is one of the beauty trends of 2023 and an echo of Asian culture whose fashion continues to grow.

You won’t need any “decorative”: the radiance of the face depends above all on the care. “Your skin should look like translucent glass not because of the highlighters, but because of the cleanliness, hydration, and smoothness,” says MD, Dermatologist Claire Chang.

You think it’s impossible? However, experts are sure that any girl can become the owner of a glass skin – for this it is enough to follow the step-by-step approach that is popular in Korea. Here are the steps it includes.

Step One: Double Cleanse

For washing, you must first use a cleansing oil that will remove dirt and sebum, then use a mild water-based gel. The author of the book “Korean Beauty Secrets” Charlotte Cho advises to pay attention to the pH – it should be such that “washing” does not reduce the barrier properties of the skin.

Step two: exfoliate

Do you want smooth skin? It is then necessary to regularly remove the layer of dead cells – it is they, according to Cho, which dull the complexion and prevent skincare products from penetrating into the dermis. Exfoliation should be done once or twice a week: Cho advises choosing a chemical that doesn’t require manual scrubbing.

Third step: tonic

The toner maintains your skin’s pH – just dip a disc in it and wipe your face with it.

Step 4: Sheet mask

You can skip this step if you are short on time. However, if you have the extra 10 minutes, use a sheet mask three times a week to properly moisturize the skin.

Step Five: Essence

Do not confuse it with the tonic! The essence is similar in texture, but aims to brighten, hydrate and nourish the skin, rather than restoring its pH. Cho recommends applying essences with your hands, not cotton balls.

Step Six: Serum

This step can also be skipped, sticking to the bare essentials, but only if you don’t face any issues. “Serums contain concentrated ingredients designed to address specific imperfections, such as fine lines,” says Cho.

Step Seven: Hydrate

This is the most important step in the scheme. As Dr. Chang explains, the choice of remedy depends on the individual characteristics of the skin – for example, thick creams are suitable for owners of dry skin, for oily skin it is better to use light gels.

Eighth step: eye cream

The skin around the eyes is extremely delicate and thin, so it is on it that the first signs of aging appear. Cho advises choosing products for these areas that contain nourishing and moisturizing ingredients.

Step 9: Face Oil

Oils are not so much humectants as emollients, creating a barrier that prevents moisture from leaving the skin. Their application, says Dr. Chang, should be at the very end.

Step ten: FPS

If you do skin care before bed, you can finish it with oil. However, if you have to go out, don’t forget sunscreen – it won’t allow ultraviolet rays to damage your skin and pre-age it.
