How long before bedtime can you drink the last glass of water – to wake up without heaviness and swelling

Drinking before bed is not very healthy – even if it is pure water without additives. However, you shouldn’t avoid liquids at night. And sometimes, before going to bed, you can drink not only water, but also another, more delicious drink. Spoiler – it’s not tea 😉

The drinking regime requires an eternal search for the middle ground. On the one hand, during the day we need to have time to drink a fairly large amount of water. On the other hand, many try to “finish” the norm shortly before bedtime. And then they complain about morning puffiness, which cannot be chased away with patches and massagers…

Another unpleasant consequence of drinking water before bedtime is nightly trips to the toilet. Often this greatly affects the quality of sleep. And even leads to insomnia, hormonal imbalance and unpleasant waking up in the morning with a full bladder. All this, of course, does not help to look better and feel fresher.

Doctors believe that the optimal dose of liquid before bed – as well as the extreme moment of its use – should be researched according to the individual characteristics of your body, the tendency to edema and night awakenings with back and forth in the toilet.

Perhaps the only rule goes something like this: you shouldn’t drink the last drink more than half an hour before going to bed. Ideally, its size should not exceed 100-150 ml. This is the amount of fluid your body will need to stay hydrated overnight.

Remember that tea, coffee and other beverages are not the same as pure water. They make the kidneys work harder, thereby causing fluid loss. But milk, surprisingly, has an even higher hydration index than water – and a lower rate of urine output. So the advice about a warm glass of milk before bed can be safely heeded! Of course, if you don’t have lactose intolerance and don’t notice that milk has a negative effect on your appearance.
