Twenty-five years ago, Julia Ormond played the female lead in Nikita Mikhalkov’s The Barber of Siberia. Today in the features of Julia it is difficult to recognize her heroine of popular historical drama – she has changed dramatically.
In the 1990s, Julia Ormond was jokingly called the second Julia Roberts. After a love duet with Richard Gere in The First Knight, she rose to worldwide fame – and consolidated the effect with the lead role in the romantic comedy with Harrison Ford “Sabrina” (1995).
During the same period, Julia received an invitation to star in “The Barber of Siberia” by Nikita Mikhalkov. In the historical epic, the foreigner got the main female role – the adventurer Jane Calagen, for whose love the hero of Oleg Menshikov ends up in hard labor in Siberia.
