Every beauty professional has their own secrets, and perfumers are no exception.
Have you ever heard of the profession of “nose”? These specialists have a unique superpower – they can distinguish up to 10,000 different shades of smell. “Nose” are called such people in France, where a quarter of them live, but there are other terms – master perfumer or chief perfumer.
The founder of her own perfume and “nose” brand Nicole Eckels lives in New York. She creates new scents and knows how to preserve each one – write down these three tips if you want the smell of your favorite perfume to accompany you all day long.
Tip #1: Start “putting on” perfume while you’re in the bath
Everyone knows that flawless skin and beautiful hair start with the right wash. But curiously, the same logic applies to perfume. As Nicole explains, for the smell to be persistent, it must be applied several times to the skin. This doesn’t mean you have to take perfume in the bath – you need a body wash and body cream to go with it. If you want to make it easier for yourself, just buy skincare products from the same brand as your eau de toilette.

Tip #2: Hydrate your skin
“Smells don’t stick on drying,” says Eckels. “Hydrated skin is the foundation for a fragrance to last all day.” If you can’t find a product that can be the “first layer” of your eau de toilette, choose one that does not contain perfumes.
