Hairspray doesn’t last long? It may not be about him or how you apply it, but about the nails themselves.
If you do a manicure at home, you know how long it takes and you don’t want it to be wasted, and the coating lost its presentable appearance after a few days. Do you prefer a living room? We understand you – we like to relax, leaving the care of nail beauty to professionals. And we also remember very well how much money we have to pay for it – it is especially insulting to notice the peeling varnish after that.
Gel can be a great solution, but the procedure to remove it can cause serious damage to the nails. So what should fans of conventional coverage do? Repair it every three days, or even more often? It turns out that there is a way to avoid this – you just need to determine the type of your nails.
“We are used to the fact that the characteristic ‘fat’ only refers to the skin of the face,” says nail art teacher Herman Paez. “But we all have a type of skin, but also nails – they can be dry, oily, normal and sensitive.”
The type of nail is determined by the natural oil secretion from the nail bed. This almost always coincides with skin type, but there are exceptions: for example, if a woman constantly has to deal with detergents, her plates will be dry. How to take care of them? Let’s talk about everything in order.

These shiny nails look great because the cuticles are always well hydrated and protected. However, famous manicurist Jin Soon Choi considers greasy nails both a blessing and a curse. “Grease definitely affects the durability of your nail polish – the oils produced by the skin prevent even the best coating from ‘sticking’ properly to the plate,” she says.
How to cope? The method is simple: dry your nails thoroughly before the manicure. To do this, you can use a nail primer, which removes excess oil from the nail plate and creates the right pH balance for optimal varnish adhesion. If you don’t have a primer, diluted rubbing alcohol, boric or formic acid, or acetone nail polish remover can be substituted.
They break and exfoliate easily – these nails need cuticle oil for the health and durability of the manicure – apply it to your fingers several times throughout the day.
They are distinguished by subtlety and smudging – owners of sensitive nails should not only constantly use cuticle oil, but also abandon nail polish removers with acetone.
The main signs of normal nails are strength, smoothness and the absence of various “special effects” – delamination, brittleness, yellow tint. Did you recognize yours? Congratulations, they don’t need extra care – cuticle oil and hand cream applied overnight is enough to keep them healthy.
