Clients will soon find out about them, but masters are unlikely, since girls will not return to them, and the consequences of the mistakes of nail designers will have to be unraveled by doctors. Often they work with people whose illnesses are obvious – it is impossible not to notice the foot or nail fungus. But even masters who refuse such clients cannot know that a woman who comes to their house has HIV or hepatitis, and she is unlikely to want to report it herself.

“Ruptures can be microscopic and completely invisible,” says Spaulding. “The fact that there is no blood does not mean that the portal of infection has not appeared on the skin.” For example, explains the doctor, if during nail filing you felt for a split second that the tool was burning you, this means that the surface layer of the skin has been damaged. There are microtraumas practically invisible to the naked eye, but this does not make them less dangerous in terms of infection.

“Some bacteria and viruses are easy to kill, some are not,” says Spaulding. When it comes to sterilization, he says, there’s a “general confusion”: manicurists are sure their tools are sterile, but in most cases they have no idea what can destroy certain viruses and how. which won’t hurt them. This is not the fault of the specialists, believes the orthopedist, because such topics are beyond their competence. According to the doctor, the only way to destroy 100% of all possible sources of infection is an autoclave, but this is too expensive equipment that is rarely purchased for salons.

They are very difficult to clean: According to researchers from the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, even when hot tubs are disinfected according to the rules, bacteria can be present in them that can lead to the appearance of boils, and not immediately , but after three to four months after the pedicure.
