Not Shampooing and Not Washing Often: 3 Unobvious Reasons Why Hair Gets Oily

Do you think your hair starts to shine greasy just an hour after washing your hair? Don’t rush to throw away shampoo or styling products – it may not be the case at all!

The curls become oily due to the sebum produced by the scalp – if it is produced too much, it is not so easy to get rid of the shine of the strands, which is not at all pleasant.

Commonly cited as the main causes of sebum, washing your hair too often, which forces the skin to regenerate its natural oil layer at a double rate, hormonal changes, frequent wearing of hats, air drying too much hot or unhealthy diet – an excessive amount of fatty and spicy foods in the diet.

Did you recognize yourself? Then it is clear how to solve the problem in each case – wash your hair less often, use a cold hair dryer, choose hats and panama hats made from natural materials with a “breathable” lining, eat well or see a doctor.

But what if you realize that not all of these cases are your story?
Here’s what dermatologist and MD Lindsey Zubricki, a TikTok follower of one million followers, thinks about it when she recently revealed some of the hidden causes of greasy hair that we often overlook.

Reason 1: Comb

“The most common reason is that you don’t wash your comb as often as you should,” says Lindsey. According to her, a lot of oil and bacteria can accumulate on the teeth or bristles, which you will constantly throw back into the hair, making it greasy. Zubricki recommends washing your comb at least once a week.

Reason 2: hair does not “breathe” at night

Alright, alright, we know hair doesn’t have lungs! But the fact is that if you don’t undo the braid at night or put anything on your head, the oil produced by the scalp simply has nowhere to go – it stays on the strands and you wake up with it. a fat head.

Reason three: oils

“Hair oils are great on the ends, but if they get into the roots, they make the strands very oily,” warns Lindsey. If you do not want to give up this care product, use it with caution – make sure that it does not get on the scalp.
