The body weakens and frequent infections may occur, including relapses of herpes for example. As for other diseases, first of all, the risks of problems with the cardiovascular system increase, and girls often develop polycystic ovary syndrome.
In addition, apparently healthy people who eat sugary and starchy foods are often accompanied by stress, anxiety and depressive states, which can be caused by disorders of the gastrointestinal tract. The only thing that usually stays the same is the weight.
Lean fat tends not to be as active as people with an average BMI (body mass index), i.e. normal weight. They are less mobile and cost less food. Moreover, even in a calm state, their metabolic rate is above average. This is due to an increase in thyroid hormone levels. In other words, people who are outwardly healthy, but who do not watch their diet, the amount of liquid they drink and their movements, may have problems with hormone production.
It is important to keep in mind that the BMI does not provide a correct assessment of the situation, since in lean fat it is often within the normal range. Bioimpedancemetry will help to accurately identify this feature. Indirectly, this can be assumed simply on the basis of “I eat a lot, move a little, and I don’t gain weight.”
What is the ability to eat without gaining weight?
The reasons are completely different: from genetic characteristics to health problems. Here is a list of the most common and serious.
low insulin
When insulin is low, the body cannot use enough glucose for energy. Then it tries to get it from protein and breaks down muscle mass. This leads to physiological stress and rapid weight loss.
However, low insulin can also be a physiological feature. For example, if his level is still low, and at the same time a person feels good, there is no problem. As a rule, such people have relatives who are also thin and have this feature. If, along with low insulin, dizziness, weakness, drowsiness, lethargy and double vision are observed, then we are already talking about pathology.
Elevated TSH
A high TSH can indicate an underactive thyroid, which also leads to weight loss. The higher the TSH, the more the thyroid gland is stimulated, which means that the metabolic processes are accelerated and therefore the person does not gain weight.
chronic stress
Chronic stress also prevents you from gaining weight, because a large amount of cortisol, adrenaline and noradrenaline enters the bloodstream – hormones that are intensely produced in the adrenal glands during negative emotions. Under the influence of stress, they increase the breakdown of fats, which allows a person to lose weight.
The last stage of stress is what is known as the “adrenal exhaustion syndrome”. Today, it occurs in a very large number of people and is manifested by body pain, fatigue, nervousness, sleep disturbances and digestive problems. This is called “adrenal fatigue” that occurs due to constant tension or chronic stress. Today, this is already perceived as the norm, even if it is not at all the case.
Ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease
The main cause of weight loss in Crohn’s disease is malabsorption, in which nutrients are poorly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. Most often this occurs with inflammation of the small intestine.
How to solve a problem
To find a balance between muscle mass and the percentage of adipose tissue, you must first work on the diet. At a minimum, cut out foods that usually cause violations: sugar, gluten, and milk. Be sure to eat a balanced diet to get the right amount of protein, fats, carbohydrates, and all the necessary vitamins and minerals.
You should also include strength training. Only with a combination of nutrition and physical activity will the body be able to balance the ratio of muscle to fat tissue.
Since lean fat often leads to upsets in the gastrointestinal tract, you may need to:
- restore the intestinal mucosa;
- establish optimal acidity of gastric juice;
- fill the deficiencies of the body;
- connect nutrisupport.
In each case, the initial state is individual, as are the ways of solving the problem. Therefore, it is better to contact a specialist in order to accurately assess all the indicators and choose a diet that will help restore health. On your own, you can easily aggravate the situation, especially if problems are already observed.
