12 Mistakes When Applying Shadows: Don’t Make Them, And Your Makeup Looks Super Cool!

“I don’t use shadows, it doesn’t suit me”, “They always curl or crumble”, “No matter how you shade them, it turns out to be dirt.” Many of us give up on eye shadow because we can’t handle it. But now everything will change!

Mistake #1: You don’t apply a primer

Yes, many people think that basics are just a way to make us pay more for cosmetics. But in the case of eyelid makeup, you really can’t do without a base. It will even out the skin and act as a pigment magnet, preventing rolling and shedding.

Mistake #2: You’re Not Using Brushes

Let’s not even talk about those creepy foam applicators that come with eyeshadow boxes. Throw away and forget. Buy special brushes to apply shadows: you will understand that shading is not painful, but a simple and quick process.

Mistake #3: You’re using the wrong brushes

The shadows are different: highly pigmented, light and dense, oily and creamy, dry and compact, crumbly and reminiscent of mousse. Depending on the type, a special brush is needed, and there are so many for a reason. Choose the right one!

Most apply shadows to the middle of the eyelid and then blend to the edges. It’s not correct! You need to start from the outer corner, where the main amount of pigment is applied, and then shade to the inner corner. The final touch is to blur the shadows beyond the crease of the eyelid to optically enlarge the look.

Mistake #5: You choose the wrong shade of eyeshadow

If your skin has yellow undertones, choose warm shades. If reddish, choose the cooler ones.

Mistake #6: You don’t take eye color into account

If you have blue eyes, choose copper, peach or carrot shades. For brown eyes, blue, cobalt and purple tones are suitable, and green eyes “love” wine, lavender and berry shades.

Error number 7: we do not paint on the roots of the eyelashes

Take a dense eyeliner brush, pick up the same shadows you used and carefully draw the line of the eyelashes: even a microscopic piece of skin between the shadows and the eyelashes spoils the overall image. Ideally, it is worth walking with a liner along the kayal – a strip of skin between the eyelashes and the eyes.

Mistake #8: You’re not mixing matte and shimmer shadows properly.

Anything coated with a matte product looks smaller, shinier. Therefore, it is better to apply matte shadows in the middle of the eyelid, under the eyebrow and on the outer corner – more nacre.

Mistake #9: You forget to highlight the inner corner

The punctual application of shimmering white shadows in the inner corner of the eye has a striking effect: the gaze is rested.

Mistake #10: You don’t color your eyebrows

None of the shadows will look spectacular if you don’t frame them with a clear brow line.

Mistake #11: You don’t cover dark circles

Any shadow exacerbates the appearance of dark circles under the eyes. So don’t forget the concealer and always with a radiant effect on the skin!

Mistake #12: Forgetting to hydrate

All of these tricks will not work if the eyelid skin is too dry. Be sure to apply eye cream morning and night!
