Skin starvation: a new beauty trend that promises to get rid of dryness and acne

Sometimes to make something better you have to stop all action for a while. It is this philosophy behind the method of “skin starvation” – a beauty experience for the most daring, which can inspire you.

Intermittent fasting is now considered the hottest way to lose weight. It’s no wonder the girls were inspired by a similar approach when it came to facials! So, for several months now, the hashtag #skinfasting has been gaining traction on social media — and the stories of those who dared to try this extreme skin regimen.

Even dermatologists agree that over time our skin becomes lazier. Due to the fact that we carefully follow all the cleaning and moisturizing steps, the skin stops functioning as before. Because of this, we feel terrible discomfort without our favorite face cream – and can’t live without a good scrub or acid serum.

Of course, there is nothing wrong with taking care of your face. But sometimes, because of this, the skin begins to act – and even fall into a state of “over-grooming”, which threatens the development of chronic inflammation.

It is because of the “over-toilet syndrome” that Western beauty experts came up with the idea of organizing “hunger strikes” for the face. It is believed that for the first time, star trainer Koko Hayashi spoke about skin starvation – and it was only then that the trend was picked up by thousands of social media users.

The most comfortable, but at the same time quite long fasting is considered a 7-day fast for the face. For the time being, it is recommended to exclude all skincare products – with the exception, in fact, of ordinary water and sunscreen, if you are often outdoors.

Ideally, it is better to refuse decorative cosmetics. But if this option is not possible for you, you can paint, and in the evening, remove your makeup with a cloth or towel soaked in warm water.

Get ready: uncomfortable sensations cannot be avoided.

On social networks, the girls tell how in the first days they struggled with the painful desire to wash themselves properly and at least to spray their faces with moisturizing thermal water. True, after 6-7 days these sensations disappear. And with them – peeling, excess fat and even inflammation. Then you can put your favorite jars back into your beauty routine.

Would you like to try skin fasting?

Yes

Not

Try to approach this question from the point of view of minimalism. Perhaps, after fasting, you can exclude some additional funds? This approach is always useful. Still, multi-step skincare is of course good, but not better than balanced skincare with minimal harsh formulations.
