Money out the window: 5 popular beauty procedures whose wow effect is greatly exaggerated

VOICE asked the cosmetologist about the most heralded beauty procedures, the super effect of which is definitely not worth the wait.

Modern cosmetology makes possible many things that seemed fantastic 20 years ago. But sometimes the result is disappointing. Maria Morzhanaeva, cosmetologist, medical director and teacher at the International School of Micronutrition, told us about the factors that can reduce the effectiveness of popular procedures and ways to avoid unnecessary expenses.

SMAS Ultrasonic Lifting

This procedure involves a non-surgical facelift, which is often a big wait. The principle of operation is based on ultrasound, which selectively damages areas of the SMAS layer. Within three months, regeneration and replacement of old collagen with new takes place, due to which the oval of the face acquires clarity. In addition, ultrasound provides a lipolytic effect, due to which the contours become clearer.

However, patients are often in a deficient state: they initially lack the building material to create new cells. This is due to the lack of vitamins and minerals, a small amount of protein in the diet. But it is the protein that must be broken down into amino acids and provide a resource for tissue regeneration and replacement. In such circumstances, the effect of ultrasonic SMAS facelift is either absent, or manifests itself slowly – within three months, and sometimes up to six months.

To date, it has been proven that chemical and physical stimulation of collagen is recommended for a good result. Therefore, it is rational to combine ultrasonic SMAS lifting with injection procedures, for example, using preparations based on polylactic acid and calcium hydroxyapatite.

Ultrasonic facial cleaning

You need to understand: To achieve the maximum clogged pore cleaning effect, impact is needed in two or three steps, which includes both hardware techniques and manual techniques.

The specialist prescribes the most optimal options, focusing on the testimony of a particular patient. In the presence of milia, open or closed comedones, hyperkeratosis, combined cleansing is recommended, since, alas, ultrasound alone will not be enough for the task. It can also include a procedure such as hydrofeshl or Hollywood cleaning, which is based on the vacuum principle.

Glutathione dropper

Glutathione is a powerful hepatoprotector and the most powerful antioxidant, whose action is aimed at cleansing and detoxifying the body, improving the quality of the skin and preventing age-related changes. As a rule, glutathione droppers are used during chemotherapy, after serious injuries and operations, and in cosmetology – in order to combat premature aging.

On average, a full course requires six to eight droppers. The day before, you must have a check-up to determine the glutathione level and prescribe the necessary dosage.

For cosmetologists, glutathione is also valuable because it blocks the production of melanin in the tissues, has anti-tyrosinase activity and is therefore able to prevent unwanted hyperpigmentation. However, with an incorrectly set dosage and one-time application, of course, there will be no significant effect.

Laser hair removal

Alexandrite and diode lasers are the gold standard for removing unwanted hair. The average course consists of six to eight procedures and depends on the location.

Each area of the skin contains a number of dormant bulbs which do not activate simultaneously. But it cannot be guaranteed that 100% of the hairs will be removed in just one course of laser hair removal, so it is recommended to perform maintenance procedures throughout the year.

Biorevitalization without injection

This procedure is aimed at superficial hydration. Usually this is the introduction of active serums based on hyaluronic acid, vitamins, peptides into the skin using dermopen. However, the substances do not penetrate deeply. Accordingly, one cannot speak of a prolonged effect.

Bio-revitalization without injection works very well as a flash procedure before events – with a quick but not lasting result. If the patient requires long-term hydration and smoothing of superficial wrinkles, a classic injectable bio-revitalization is recommended: three to four procedures once every two weeks. These courses can be repeated once or twice a year.

In order for cosmetic procedures to give the desired result, it is necessary to clearly define the goals and correctly establish a treatment and care protocol. A qualified specialist will certainly help you choose the best options.
