Why did women in the Middle Ages do intimate piercings – seduction has nothing to do with it!

The intimate piercing is different: sometimes it is done on the genitals, and sometimes on the chest, piercing the nipples.

Initially, the tradition of female intimate piercing was common among Aborigines. However, in the 14th century, nipple piercings suddenly became a feature of European aristocracy. Then many women resorted to this technique of beautification – and not in their youth, but already at a fairly old age.

And no, medieval ladies decorated their nipples with piercings not at all to show their openness to experimentation. Everything is much more unusual: it was the piercing that helped women achieve an elastic breast shape.

Over time, the fashion for intimate piercing faded, but revived towards the end of the 19th century. In women’s magazines of the time, it was said that pierced breasts took on a nicer rounded shape. It has also been mentioned that nipple piercing increases sensuality. But it was this fact that became the reason for the criticism of intimate piercing. Yet this was in no way combined with the main function of breastfed babies.
