Prince Charles banned Princess Diana from using her favorite cosmetic – which one and why?

Charles and Princess Diana’s marriage was full of controversy and problems. Thus, the royal couple quarreled even because of cosmetics. And the initiator of bans and scandals was the future king of Great Britain.

Imagine if one day your husband came to you and told you that you should forget about your favorite cosmetic product that you use every day. How would you react to that? And would she really listen to her husband’s opinion if he had a good point?

This situation happened during the wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana. And according to royal biographers, when Charles said this, Lady Dee thought he was “completely mad”.

It turned out that in the late 1980s, Prince Charles officially banned the use of hairspray at Kensington Palace. First of all, this prohibition applied specifically to Diana – after all, she liked to do a super resistant style.

Charles was convinced that hairspray was bad for the environment, as the aerosols caused holes in the ozone layer. Of course, modern products no longer contain components that are harmful to the atmosphere. But in the 1980s, there was still a sense in reducing the use of varnish.

By the way, it is likely that Charles was also guided by personal preferences. Photographer David Bailey, who has worked with Diana more than once, noted that the princess loved the hairspray so much that her hair looked “terrible” – “hard, like a plastic mannequin.” You can imagine how easy it was for Lady Di to refuse nail polish, she loved using it so actively!
