Billie Eilish will make her feature acting debut starring in a film adaptation of Sylvia Plath's semi-autobiographical 1963 feminist novel The Bell Jar.
The American singer plays the lead role of Esther Greenwood in the movie, which has already wrapped filming under the direction of Sarah Polley.
Greenwood is a bright young aspiring writer who lands a coveted summer internship at a prestigious magazine in New York during the vibrant but restrictive 1950s. Through Greenwood's eyes, the film explores ambition, identity construction, and the fragility of mental health as she battles the suffocating social and family expectations placed on women of that era.
